Project Details

On behalf of Slum/ Shack Dwellers International (SDI), a 20-country association of national federations of slum dweller savings co-operatives, AHI acted as financial advisor to design and assist SDI in implementing its International Urban Poor Fund. This fund, a $5,000,000 revolving facility, will be entirely self-managed by SDI and its members; proceeds will be used to improve housing for the urban poor by the mechanism of metropolitan savings co-operatives and their national federations working with governments (especially municipal) on legislative change, pilot programs, pilot projects, and extending the SDI network.
