Appropriations: Requiem for VA-HUD
The game of chicken is over as the Senate’s cardinals have swung into line with their House counterparts (hat tip: HDR):
The Senate Appropriations Committee, like the House panel, has dropped the VA/HUD subcommittee, moving HUD funding to a revamped transportation, treasury, and HUD subcommittee.

The subcommittee will be chaired by Christopher Bond (R-Mo.), with Patty Murray (D-Wash.) as ranking member.
The other subcommittee Republicans are Richard Shelby (Ala.), Arlen Specter (Pa.), Robert Bennett (Utah), Kay Bailey Hutchison (Texas), Mike DeWine (Ohio), Sam Brownback (Kan.), Ted Stevens (Alaska), Pete Domenici (N.M.), and Conrad Burns (Mont.).
The other Democrats are Robert C. Byrd (W.Va.), Barbara Mikulski (Md.), Harry Reid (Nev.), Herb Kohl (Wis.), Richard Durbin (Ill.), Byron Dorgan (N.D.), Patrick Leahy (Vt.), and Tom Harkin (Iowa).
Mikulski, who was ranking member of the VA/HUD subcommittee, will be ranking member of the commerce, justice, and science panel.

“Now, let’s talk about moving CDBG …”
